Réseau de développement social Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine (RDS-GÎM)
Year founded: 2012
Partners in the Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine region have been working together as a concerted, integrated network to strengthen social cohesion and reduce social inequality throughout the region.
The network’s mission is to encourage the mobilization of local communities in the Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine region and support them in taking responsibility for their own social development based on the principles of concertation, empowerment and citizen participation.
Projects and challenges
Four areas of intervention:
Knowledge: exchange and transfer of knowledge and expertise in social development
Action: support for regional thematic action plans for social development
Support: facilitating access to opportunities and providing support for local social development initiatives
Outreach: to be recognized as the hub of social development for Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine
Main achievement
Mobilization intersector work with a wide variety of actors: citizens, communities, institutions, cooperatives
