Launching of K, an invaluable resource for community development in Quebec
Montreal, May 22, 2013 - About 100 people were in attendance at Montreal's Centre for Sustainable Development (better known by its official name, Maison du développement durable) for the official launch of K, the French-language journal for community development in Quebec. With over 10,000 copies distributed in 17 regions in the province, K (for "Kaleidoscope") hopes to make a meaningful contribution to community development throughout Quebec. The journal's mission is to encourage innovation, helping to ensure that experiences in the field encourage reflection and collaboration on the part of all actors involved by giving them a forum for exchanging and comparing points of view. K has taken the place of the journal Développement social that had been published by the Institut national de santé publique du Québec since 1999. The new journal K magazine will be published by the Amis de Kaléidoscope, an NPO that boasts an active membership of 170 organizations in communities throughout Quebec.
The Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation - along with the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Quebec Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy, and Quebec Ministry of Employment and Social Solidarity - are among the journal's financial partners.
