Achieving work/life balance: Quebec Family Week celebrates its 20th anniversary
This year marks the 20th edition of Quebec Family Week, running from May 11-17. Over the years, the family has been at the heart of the priorities of the many organizations associated with the event across the entire province of Quebec.
This year's theme of "Réconcilions travail et famille" (Achieving work/life balance) takes a look at the significant challenges faced by families today as they strive to find some kind of balance between their personal and professional lives.
Réseau pour un Québec Famille wants to see Quebecers give families the importance they deserve. Although families themselves have a major role to play in this quest for balance, their social environments (municipalities, schools, daycares) and workplaces must also show themselves to be true partners, stepping up to the plate to provide support for families by adapting their methods of operation.
Suggested activities include a family night on Wednesday, May 13. Schools have been asked to give students a night off from homework and businesses urged to avoid scheduling end-of-day meetings. The objective is an entire weeknight devoted to activities for the whole family...right across the province!
Quebec Family Week 2015 offers an excellent opportunity to think about ways we can improve the balance between our professional and personal lives-to the benefit of the entire society.
