Publication of a study entitled Impact of Quebec's universal low-fee childcare on female labour force participation, domestic income and governement budgets
In this study published by Université de Sherbrooke, Pierre Fortin, Luc Godbout and Suzy St-Cerny estimate that, in 2008, universal access to low-fee childcare services in Quebec encouraged nearly 70,000 more mothers to hold jobs that if no such program had existed. The authors calculated that this trand resulted in an increase of $5 billion in the Quebec domestic income (GDP).
